General information:

The church dedicated to St. John the Baptist, because River Möhlin flowed directly past the church around 200 years ago. The most valuable piece in the church is a large altar picture by Simon Göser (1735- 1816). It shows Jesus' baptism by John.

The three large bells were removed at the beginning of 1942 and used for war purposes. Thanks to lots of donations after the war, a bell was inaugurated to St. Michael in 1951 and hung up in the bell tower. Two new bells were cast in 1984 in the presence of many parish members.

During the renovation in 1964, the pastor at the time wanted to move with the changing times and make a "modern" church out of the artfully decorated Baroque church, which is why it was "stripped down". Only the ceiling painting and the high altar picture as well as a few figures remained. The walls were now bare and white, the pulpit pulled down and the ambo, font, celebration and side altar made of grey marble. Renovation of the chancel started in 1995. The inside of the Church of St. John now radiates a new splendour and a touch of Baroque has been brought back to the church.
