Cathedral Hut

General information:

For over 800 years, the cathedral guild of masons is in Freiburg, one of the oldest stonemasons in Germany. From about 1200 to 1536, the guild of masons was responsible for building the Freiburg cathedral, until today it has been instrumental in its maintenance.

Since 1890, the guild of masons is operated by the Freiburger Münsterbauverein e.V. On behalf of the cathedral factory fund, it is responsible for the preservation of external stonework of the cathedral. For the restoration of the west top of spire, an additional workshop with its own team of about five to eight employees was established at the foot of the cathedral tower in 2006.
