Rathaushof, 79098 Freiburg
In the courtyard behind the Old Town Hall, between Gauch- und Turmstrasse, is the oldest surviving Town Hall of the city - the Court Pergola. In 1497/1498, the Reichstag, which had been called to Freiburg by King Maximilian I, took place in the sandstone building - erected in 1303. From mid 16th century, court sessions were held in the basement of the old council chamber - hence the name "Court Pergola". The city council meetings were held in the upper hall until 1901.
