Today's Augustinian Museum in Freiburg was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. It was built as a monastery in the 16th century. In 1823, the church was converted into one of the first municipal theatres in Germany. A further 100 years later, it was given its current purpose. The museum houses an extensive collection of art and cultural history from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. The sculpture hall is impressive with its four metre high depictions of prophets.
