The “Bertoldsbrunnen” (Bertold fountain) is the central traffic junction in the city center with the junction of Salz- and Bertoldstreet and Kaiser-Jospeh-Street. Almost all tramway lines cross at the monument for city founder Bertold von Zähringen which is one of the reasons this spot is popular meeting point.
Located at this spot the “Fischerbrunnen” (Fischer fountain) - built in 1908 – was destroyed in World War II. The afterwards built “Zähringer-Brunnen” (Zähringer fountain) was also destroyed during the air raid on November 27th, 1944.
