Biosphärenreservat Karstlandschaft Südharz
Originating from the seabed, the Karstlandschaft Südharz biosphere reserve today consists partly of gypsum rock. The diverse landscape of beech and oak forests, quarries and impressive natural caves provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. Visitors will find cultural attractions such as medieval castles and information on the 1,000-year-old mining tradition throughout the biosphere reserve.
