Chemnitz - Stadt der Moderne

Chemnitz sees itself as a city of modernity. This is particularly evident in the Bauhaus architecture that characterises the Schocken department stores', among other things. Art Nouveau is also represented in Chemnitz - for example in the Kaßberg district with its richly decorated house facades. Friends of modern art are in the right place at the Gunzenhauser Museum, where around 380 works by the painter Otto Dix are on display.
