Die Grüne Zitadelle von Magdeburg

For more than 20 years, ‘The Green Citadel of Magdeburg’, a building designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, stands in the centre of the state capital. The colourful, green building complex houses rental flats, shops, restaurants and cafés as well as a hotel. The artistic work with its striking pink façade replaced one of the first prefabricated buildings in the GDR at this location and has fascinated thousands of visitors every year ever since.
