Duderstadt is considered a particularly well-preserved example of a historic half-timbered town. Largely spared the destruction of the Second World War, there are more than 600 half-timbered houses in the town centre. One of these is the town hall with its three striking towers from the 16th century. Just a few steps away is St Cyriacus Church, richly decorated with ceiling frescoes.
