Energiefabrik Knappenrode

The Knappenrode energy factory tells the story of the industrial history of the Lusatian mining district and its emergence into the modern age. The museum is located in a former briquette factory, which can be visited in its original state. Visitors learn interesting facts about the beginnings of lignite mining and can marvel at machines weighing several tonnes in the outdoor area. The energy factory also offers trolley rides on a one kilometre long course.
