Münsterplatz 10, 79098 Freiburg
The Basler Engineer and Architect Johann Jacob Fechter erected the building on the south side of the cathedral square (Münsterplatz) for the Breisgau knighthood in 1756. From 1766, the house was used as a gathering place of the State legislature. With the elimination of the legislature, the "hut" initially served as Grand Dukes palace court as from 1806 and in 1824; it was handed over to the newly appointed Archbishop, whom it has served as archiepiscopal palace since 1832.
In 1944, the "Haus zum Ritter" burned out completely. During reconstruction in early 50s, one was oriented towards the structure of the house that had been changed in the 19th century.
