Erzgebirge

In fact, the name “Erzgebirge” or ore-mountains goes back to the discovery of precious metal/mineral mixtures in the Middle Ages. Mining has been a tradition here for over 850 years. Even today, you can still visit the tunnels where silver ore was once mined. The region is also famous for its arts and crafts. Numerous manufacturers still produce the world-famous candle arches, pyramids and nutcrackers.
