The infamous former Bautzen II prison, where political prisoners were held during the GDR era, is now a memorial site. This comprises three exhibition rooms and documents the history of the prison from 1904 until its closure at the turn of the century. Eyewitness accounts and original preserved cells make the fate of the prisoners impressively clear.
