Gewandhaus zu Leipzig

Opened in 1981, the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig was one of the most important prestige buildings of the former GDR. It is not only the dimensions of the Great Hall, which can accommodate over 1,900 guests, that are impressive. The foyer is also adorned by the largest ceiling painting in the world. To this day, concerts are still held in the Gewandhaus, where the excellent acoustics come into their own.
