The oldest university in Northern Europe is located in the Hanseatic city of Rostock. Monasteries and churches in the typical brick Gothic style also adorn the cityscape, including the Holy Cross Monastery, now the Museum of Cultural History. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the city harbour from the platform of St. Peter's Church, which was built around 1300.
