Herrenhäuser Gärten

Historical landscape art is shown in the Herrenhausen Gardens which were laid out in the 19th century next to the palace of the same name. The “Großer Garten” or  “great garden” impresses with symmetrical hedges and filigree flowerbeds as well as a 70 metre high water fountain. Around 12,000 plant species adorn the “Berg Garten” or mountain garden. In the Georgengarten, meanwhile, visitors can stroll under tall lime trees. The Welfengarten surrounds the Welfenschloss, the headquarters of Leibniz Universität Hannover.
