At the end of the 18th century, a fire destroys large parts of the historic centre of the garrison town of Neuruppin. Reconstruction took place a little later. The result: long, wide streets, large squares and numerous buildings in the classicist style. Few towns have undergone the kind of planned reorganisation that makes Neuruppin unique today.
