The Hohenwartestausee attracts visitors not only with its picturesque wooded shore landscape. Boat trips and swimming are also very popular on the so-called "Thuringian Sea". You can enter the barrier wall or take the hiking trail to various viewpoints to see the entire lake. Rare fire salamanders can be found in the spring streams along the path.
