Marienthal Abbey was founded in 1234 as an abbey for Cistercian nuns. The community still exists today, making St. Marienthal the oldest monastery complex of its kind in Germany. The richly decorated baroque-style monastery church is not the only thing worth seeing. A garden with biblical plants and Germany's easternmost vineyard also invite you to linger.
