Kloster Veßra - Hennebergisches Museum

Anger 35, 98660 Kloster Veßra

Kloster Veßra - Hennebergisches Museum
Founded in the 12th century as a house monastery of the Premonstratensians, Veßra Monastery is the landmark of the southern Thuringian community of the same name. After secularisation, it served as a stud farm where, among other things, porcelain was produced. Today, the monastery houses an open-air museum with half-timbered houses and a watermill. Various exhibitions deal with topics such as regional history, folklore and historical wild and cultivated plants.
