Krypta Rohr Johanniterburg Kühndorf

In the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen, you can visit the oldest crypt in Thuringia as well as the medieval St John's Castle. The crypt was built in the 9th century. It is the oldest part of the fortified church of St Michaelis. Four kilometres to the north is the Johanniterburg Kühndorf. The imposing building with its thick walls, half-timbered construction and richly decorated interior can be visited and booked for events.
