Leipzig Friedliche Revolution 1989

Nikolaikirchhof 3, 04109 Leipzig

Leipzig Friedliche Revolution 1989
Leipzig is considered an important centre of the peaceful revolution of 1989. This began with the prayers for peace in St Nicholas' Church. In the churchyard, the Nikolai Column and light installations commemorate the resistance against the GDR regime. A memorial was also created in the former Stasi headquarters. A prison cell from the GDR era can still be visited there.
