The climatic health resort of Malchow has been known as the island town since 2011 and is valued for its beneficial climate. Next to the 13th century monasterythe town is known for its historic windmills and half-timbered buildings such as the town hall. One of the town's landmarks is the swing bridge that connects Malchow with the mainland.
