Residenzschloss Skatstadt Altenburg

Known as the birthplace of the game of skat, Altenburg is home to a medieval residential palace from the time of Emperor Barbarossa. This is enthroned on a volcanic porphyry rock that offers sweeping views. Passing the main building, the Corps de Logis with its strictly geometric façade, you enter the ballroom.
