Discovery of the Hohenstaufen moated castle, which was expanded into a magnificent Renaissance residence in the 16th century. Today, the former princely residence is home to the Hohenlohe Museum and the central archive of the House of Hohenlohe. Discover the Wasserburg in the heart of the town of Neuenstein. Once built in the 12th century during the Hohenstaufen period and used as the residence of the Princes of Hohenlohe-Öhringen, it has shone in all its glory as an imposing Renaissance residence since its expansion in 1550. Since around 1700, the palace has no longer served as the residence of the House of Hohenlohe, but has been used for various other purposes. Nevertheless, you can feel the touch of past centuries in the Hohenlohe Museum , which opened its doors here in 1878. Insights into history and art Be enchanted by the valuable collections in the castle museum. In the permanent exhibition, you will discover the inventories of the seven Hohenlohe castles: magnificent furniture, precious works of art, impressive weapons and lovingly preserved everyday objects. Each object tells the family history of the House of Hohenlohe and sheds new light on the Hohenlohe-Franconia region . Spaces and cultural events The late medieval castle kitchen is particularly worth seeing - one of the largest and best-preserved of its kind in Europe. Wander on into the majestic Kaisersaal , the mysterious Königsgewölbe and the fascinating Cabinet of Art and Rarities. At the top of the list is the 41-metre-long Kittersaal , where the Hohenloher Kultursommer is celebrated with concerts in a historical setting.
