Sonnenobservatorium Goseck Himmelswege

The solar observatory of the same name, one of four Himmelswege Sky Walks sites, is located on the outskirts of the municipality of Goseck. The circular burial site, which is around 7,000 years old, provides evidence that people were already studying the course of the sun in the Neolithic period. At Goseck Castle, visitors can learn more about the history of the monument, which is considered to be the oldest solar observatory in Europe.
