Steinrinne Bilzingsleben im GeoPark Kyffhäuser
The Bilzingsleben stone channel archaeological site reveals how prehistoric inhabitants once lived on the northern edge of the Thuringian Basin. It shows skeletal remains of Homo Erectus that are around 370,000 years old. These are among the earliest human finds in central and north-west Europe. Today, visitors can view the site under a glass dome. The reconstructed mud huts of our ancestors are also located outside.
