The UNESCO Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve is not only characterised by the inland waters of the same name. There are many more lakes here, whose shores offer refuge to water birds such as cranes, greylag geese and lesser spotted eagles. The PAHLHUUS in Zarrentin reveals more about regional biodiversity. In the city you can also visit a monastery from the 13th century.
