UNESCO Weltnaturerbe Buchenwald Grumsin

Altkünkendorfer Straße 20, 16278 Angermünde

UNESCO Weltnaturerbe Buchenwald Grumsin
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, forestry use of the Grumsin beech forest was already restricted during the GDR era. This allowed the native trees to develop into imposing giants. Another feature of this area is its water-filled depressions: a product of the last ice age. Birds such as white-tailed eagles, cranes and black storks find refuge there.
