Wacken Open Air
The Wacken Open Air is one of the most famous music festivals in Germany and one of the biggest metal festivals in the world. Since its origins in 1990, the number of participants has increased a hundredfold: from 800 to 80,000 visitors today. Every year on the first weekend in August, a state of emergency prevails in the small Schleswig-Holstein community of Wacken when fans of hard rock and metal gather.
