Welcome to Wildpark Schwarze Berge | Freilichtmuseum am Kiekeberg

A
short journey through the cultural history of Northern Germany.

The
farmhouses with their outbuildings are mportant sources of the history of Winsener
Elbmarsch and Lüneburg Heath. For instance, the Silberhof brought here from
Scharmbeck (built in 1612) is one of the most splendid farmhouses in Lower
Saxony.

Next
to the buildings you will find beautiful gardens that are typical of the period
and the corresponding domesticated animals (horses, cows, pigs, sheep, hens and
geese).

In
our exhibition building we show the permanent exhibition ‘‘Landleben in den
50ern’’ (‘‘Rural life in the fifties’’). It gives an insight into the regional
development from 1945 to 1965. These miracle years, during which many refugees
found a new home and began to start up a new livelihood, made a lasting
impression on the Federal Republic of Germany.

Our
museum offers

Farm
Shop and Museum Shop: Fruit and vegetables from our organic farm and a wealth
of the most unusual gifts, specialities, treasures of yesteryear, and home-made
delicacies await you! One of the best shopping sites in Northern Germany.

Restaurant: The museum’s restaurant invites you to enjoy the
regional cuisine – even beyond the museum’s opening times!

Demonstration bakery: Here you can buy
bread and cakes just as they used to be made in days gone by. Our Bioland
bakery only uses organic ingredients.

Distillery: In 2006 the old distillery from Salzhausen
resumed its production of the traditional Heath “Korn” schnapps, the
Haidmärker.
