Wiprecht von Groitzsch
Born in 1052, Wiprecht von Groitzsch made a name for himself as a margrave, builder and monastery founder. Above all, however, his skilfully waged battles served as the stuff of legends. The Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology presents more about his life. His cenotaph, which can be seen in St Laurentius Church in Pegau, is a masterpiece of sculpture.
