The Mühlheim Rock Cave is a small stalactite cave in the Donaubergland region. It is accessible via a flight of stairs. A Fascinating World of Stalactites in the Donaubergland The Mühlheim Rock Cave near Mühlheim an der Donau offers a unique natural experience in the Upper Danube Valley. The 134-meter-long karst cave impresses with its partly snow-white stalactites, delicate limestone formations, and a unique natural sinter basin that resembles an altar. Discovered as early as 1912 by local speleologists, the cave offers exciting insights into the fascinating underground world of the Swabian Alb. On a guided tour, visitors can experience the cave’s mysterious atmosphere and marvel at the extraordinary formations created over millennia by water and limestone. Access and Opening Hours The cave is not open to the public and is only accessible on Ascension Day/Father’s Day and on Cave Day—the last Sunday in August (August 30, 2026)—or for groups by appointment. The contact is the Mühlheim local chapter of the Swabian Alb Association. The Mühlheim Rock Cave is an official geopoint of the UNESCO Global Geopark Swabian Alb.
