The Danube flows into two oceans! A unique natural phenomenon. Near Fridingen, in the heart of the Upper Danube Valley, lies the third major sinkhole of the Danube seepage system in the Danube Uplands. Near Fridingen in the Danube Valley, a large portion of the Danube’s water also seeps into the ground. It has been proven that here, too, Danube water constantly seeps into the riverbed and later resurfaces at the source of the Aach, after flowing underground beneath the hills toward the southwest.  Between the second main sinkhole near Immendingen and this additional major sinkhole near Fridingen, the Danube receives water again from its tributaries. In addition to the Krähenbach near Möhringen, these are primarily the Elta in Tuttlingen and the Bära in Fridingen, which carry water from the Heuberg into the Danube via the so-called Upper and Lower Bära sections all the way to Fridingen. This third major sinkhole in the Danube’s underground flow is located right near the Danube Cycle Path from Fridingen toward Beuron. This means that all three information points on the Danube’s underground flow can be reached by bike via the Danube Cycle Path in the Donaubergland region. A new information point marks the location and provides important background information.
