Blautopf Blaubeuren

Welcome to Blautopf Blaubeuren

The particularly beautiful karst spring, nestled in the valley basin of Blaubeuren, is an admirable natural phenomenon that appears in beautiful shades of blue and green. The Blautopf in Blaubeuren is one of the best-known natural phenomena of the Swabian Alb. A fairy tale by Eduard Mörike is also set around this radiant blue place. The "Beautiful Lau", banished to the Blautopf by her husband, the old water sprite, learns to laugh again there with the support of the women of Blaubeuren. In fact, the Blautopf is an entrance to a far-reaching underground cave system, already surveyed for 14 km. A film about research in the Blue Cave system is shown during the opening hours of the Prehistory Museum at Kirchplatz.
