Kirchstraße 6, 77960 Seelbach
Seelbach’s underground stream – the so-called Dorfbach – was uncovered during the redevelopment of the Marktstraße in 1988. The stream is reminiscent of the early Dorfbach that flowed down the middle of the street and was used for all disposal needs. Today, of course, the Dorfbach is free of any wastewater as this is channelled through the underground sewerage system.
In fitting with its source in the neighbouring valley, the Selmental, the Dorfbach is also called the Selmenbach. The sandstone sculpture in Kirchplatz square – the Selmenwiebli – depicts a typical market woman emptying a bucket of water.
