The Zum Bären guesthouse with its beautiful timber-frame architecture was built in 1743. A hostelry that was destroyed by fire is believed to have stood on this site since the 15th century. This guesthouse has in the past housed the local craft guilds and occasionally served as the chamber for local council meetings. The large hall has also been the venue for balls and carnival events.
Old Seelbach residents recall flood waters causing the floorboards to rise as at one time the course of the Dorfbach ran directly under the Bären.
