Former district office

Overview:

Public order office, building authority, tourist information office, city office. The building has an elevator at the rear to provide barrier-free access to the town office and tourist information.

The district office, part of the Grand Ducal administration of Baden and based in Schopfheim since 1810, was housed in this building from 1826 to 1938. Before it was taken over by the town, the building was home to the Schopfheim police station.

Interesting facts

• Schopfheim lost this important administrative function in 1938 when the district offices of Schopfheim and Lörrach were merged to form the newly created Lörrach district office.
