General information

Because Krozingen belonged to Austria for many centuries, it remained Catholic during the reformation era. There were no Protestant Christians here up until the 30-Year War and for a long time afterwards. More and more Protestant worshippers moved to the area from 1900 and held church services in the castle. The first Protestant clergyman, Vicar Funk, actively promoted the construction of the first evangelist church, which was inaugurated by the state bishop of the time in the year 1935.

The glass windows created by art professor, Georg Meistermann, are viewed as important treasures of art history and would now be priceless according to expert opinion. The more light falls inside church, the more vivid the scenes become. "God's earthly manifestations" show, amongst others, the creation of the world, Abraham, Moses in front of the burning bush, the annunciation to Mary on baptising the faithful and Thomas' encounter with the resurrected. The iridescent colour nuances on the arched window at the top left behind the gallery in yellow, orange and red represent the "gate to life".

A brochure on the church's information shelf provides explanations of the windows.

An overview plan of the windows can be found HERE. (German / This link has not been optimised for Smartphones)
