Welcome to

The State Mint of Baden-Württemberg in Karlsruhe is the smallest mint in Germany and is located in the city center of Karlsruhe.

The new building of the Baden mint was built in 1826/27. Started by architect Friedrich Weinbrenner, his student Friedrich Theodor Fischer continued the work after his death. It was the only monumental building by Weinbrenner to survive the Second World War with almost no damage.

The three-part central section of the main building forms the end of Karlstrasse to the north. During a major renovation between 1976 and 1988, the Weinbrenner architecture was largely retained, but the room concept was changed to accommodate new production processes. Remnants of the original decoration have been preserved in the building. The building is still used as a mint today, where German coins with the minting letter G are produced.

Further information can also be found in the Karlsruhe city lexicon.
