Eisenbahnstraße 4, 77960 Seelbach
Seelbach locals affectionately refer to the former station building as s’Bahnhöfle. The Kehl to Seelbach railway line once terminated here. From 1894, a steam locomotive transported commuters mornings and evenings from the entire Schutter Valley to and from Lahr. The popularity of the railway began to wane, however, when increased bus services made the journey faster and cheaper. This resulted in the closure of the line in 1952. Roughly where today’s mini-golf kiosk stands once stood the engine shed of the Lahr-Seelbach branch line. The station hotel opposite is also a reminder of these times.
