Das Biosphärenreservat Bliesgau erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von etwa 36 Hektar. Die sanfthügelige Landschaft ist geprägt von Buchenwäldern, Streuobstwiesen und Auenlandschaften rund um den namensgebenden Fluss Blies. Die vielfältigen Lebensräume sind ein Paradies für seltene Tier- und Pflanzenarten und das trotz städtischer Prägung und einer Bevölkerungsdichte die den Bundesdurchschnitt übersteigt. Dies macht den Bliesgau weltweit einmalig.
