Biosphärereservat Bliesgau

The Bliesgau biosphere reserve covers an area of around 36 hectares. The gently undulating landscape is characterised by beech forests, meadow orchards and floodplain landscapes around the eponymous river Blies. The diverse habitats are a paradise for rare animal and plant species, despite the urban character and a population density that exceeds the national average. This makes the Bliesgau unique in the world.
