Johann Georg Uehlin was 1848 revolutionary, publisher, editor and poet. In 1864 he founded the first local newspaper in Schopfheim by the name “Statthalter von Schopfheim”; in 1883 it was renamed in “Markgräfler Tagblatt” which still exists today. He was not just active as a publisher, but also as a poet. His poetic lodestar was Johann Peter Hebel. Uehlin wrote poems that were publish in daily newspapers. A collection of his poems was published as poetry collection “Aus dem Wiesenthale“.
