The 15th century Seilerturm in Weil der Stadt is a historic tower located in the old town and is an important landmark with a rich history. The Seilerturm served as a prison for many years. Like the other towers in the Renningen suburb, it is a shell tower whose masonry is open on the side facing the city. This design was intended to prevent the tower from being used as a fortress against the town if it fell into enemy hands.
