The Stiftung Forum Recht creates diverse and open spaces in which people can talk about their experiences with the law and the rule of law.
In this way, it brings current topics into a public dialog - in
its foundation premises in Karlsruhe, at its location in Leipzig, but
also mobile throughout Germany and digitally.
The Stiftung Forum Recht takes up people's everyday experiences with the law and the rule of law and develops interdisciplinary offerings - from city tours, workshops and discussions to podcasts, exhibitions, artistic interventions and readings. The federal foundation under public law was established for this purpose in 2019 by an act of the German Bundestag.
In addition to actively involving its target groups, the foundation also relies on close cooperation with an (inter)national network of institutions and stakeholders in political education, justice, science and culture. The main goal is for citizens to understand and respect the rule of law as a positive part of their lives. They stand up for peaceful and liberal coexistence based on the values of the Basic Law and democracy.
New buildings in Karlsruhe and Leipzig
In Karlsruhe and Leipzig, two buildings will be built for the Forum Recht foundation: conceived as a venue for events, discussions and public meetings, the Forum Recht is both an educational institution and a globally unique place for an interdisciplinary and participatory debate on law and the rule of law. In Karlsruhe, the Forum Recht will be located in the immediate vicinity of the Federal Court of Justice on the corner of Kriegstraße and Herrenstraße. In Leipzig, a joint building with the Faculty of Law is planned on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz near the city center.
