Kleine Kirche

Kaiserstraße 131, 76133 Karlsruhe

Welcome to

The Kleine Kirche is the oldest existing church in Karlsruhe. It houses the old bell of the castle church from 1717 and was originally a place of worship for the small reformed congregation of the fan-shaped city.

Later, the small church was used as a garrison church for the Grand Duke's soldiers.

Diver's fountain

The so-called "Taucherbrunnen" - named after the sculptor Konrad Taucher and designed by him in 1905 - stands to the left in front of the small church, which forms a small square at this point due to a setback in Kaiserstraße.

The sculptor chose a boy drawing water as the central motif and thus refers to the function of the fountain as a "source of life" - a popular Art Nouveau theme. The finely crafted movement of the bronze boy contrasts with the massive, high stone water basin, which is restrainedly decorated with shells, garlands and a ram's head.

The fountain has survived the wars with only minor damage.
