First municipal children’s school

The kindergarten was a gift from local paper manufacturer Johann Sutter to the town of Schopfheim. The building was planned and built as a school and was gifted to the town in 1867. From the middle of the 19^th century to the year 1900, Schopfheim’s population grew by more than 1000 to 3545. The construction of a new church and hospital was also necessary due to the town’s rapid growth.
