Synagogue square

General information:

Former synagogue and mikwe. North-east of the square the synagogue, first mentioned in 1681, stood until its destruction during the French Revolution in 1793. New building here in 1804 on the land of the former “Zum Einhorn” (the Unicorn) Jewish hospital, converted 1863-70. Destroyed by arson attack on 10.11.1938. First memorial stone 1959. Today’s square design and memorial in 1998.
