Welcome to
From old masters to contemporary sculpture, postmodern media installations, and emerging artists: at the Karlsruhe Hallenbau, you can experience art from a wide variety of eras and styles.
#### Four institutions under one roof
First, the [ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe](https://zkm.de/de) and the [Kunstmuseum Karlsruhe](https://staedtische-galerie.de/), formerly the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe, moved into the building of the former munitions factory, followed shortly afterwards by the [Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG)](https://hfg-karlsruhe.de/) (University of Design). The [Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe](https://www.kunsthalle-karlsruhe.de/) is currently the fourth institution to be hosted there, displaying parts of its collection in the ZKM's exhibition rooms.
#### Culture in a former industrial building
The hall was originally built as a munitions factory and converted into a cultural center in the 1990s. The industrial architecture and spacious areas offer room for exhibitions, art projects, and cultural events, combining historical building fabric with contemporary culture. The spectrum ranges from media art at the ZKM to design exhibitions at the HfG and contemporary art at the Kunstmuseum Karlsruhe, complemented by presentations at the Kunsthalle. The result is a place where different perspectives on art, design, and media come together.
